About this Research Topic
This research topic aims to delve into the transformative role of remote sensing in forest and fire management, illustrating its efficacy during pre-fire planning, active firefighting efforts, and post-fire recovery. By fostering discussions on the latest innovations and integrating remote sensing data, this collection seeks to uncover new methodologies and tools that enhance fire preparedness, combat active fires more effectively, and assess the aftermath to inform recovery strategies. Papers are encouraged to demonstrate novel uses of remote sensing in these stages, setting the stage for advancements that could lead to more resilient fire management systems.
To further explore the capabilities of remote sensing technologies in fire management, this special issue invites contributions that elucidate:
• Pre-fire Analysis: Evaluating potential fire hazards, fuel conditions, and infrastructure vulnerabilities.
• Active Fire Management: Techniques for real-time fire tracking and decision-making support during firefighting.
