About this Research Topic
However, recent global geopolitical events have led to the consideration of regional and global energy security contributions. Nowadays, almost every country has a plan to reduce its reliance on energy resources from other countries. Soon this aim will cause diversification of energy production methods, depending on the resources available in the country. A viable energy form should be economically feasible, environmentally friendly, and secure. Therefore, it is crucial that all studies should consider energy sources, production, storage, sustainability, and their wider effects on the environment.
In recent years, studies on resources and the production of energy have mainly focused on environmental and economical challenges at a global level, and less frequently focused on fuel types. Importantly, research into alternative fuels that can be supplied from local resources should be considered.
With the changes caused by geopolitical events, energy resources should consider
• Alternative fuel types available in the region,
• New and emerging biofuels,
• Uninterrupted availability at an affordable price,
• Storage facilities,
• Security of production and
• Transportation
Scope of the Research Topic.
The Research Topic welcomes submissions on the impact of biofuels from domestic resources highlighting whether the energy resource is a viable option to be used by the country. As biofuel production can be provided from domestic resources, countries will gain energy resources independent of geopolitical risks. This collection will furthermore look to gather biofuel effects on internal combustion engines.
This Research Topic covers regional availability, sustainability, and energy security that includes storage, and uninterrupted availability, as well as their chemical and physical properties, combustion characteristics, and environmental impact.
• Regional availability and sustainability,
• Energy security that includes storage, uninterrupted availability,
• The investigation of fuel properties of biofuels,
• Biofuel effects on internal combustion engines,
• Combustion characteristics,
• Engine performance,
• Emissions.
We invite researchers to submit on the theme highlighted in this Research Topic;
• Original Research Articles,
• Reviews.
Keywords: Alternative fuels, Internal combustion engines, Emissions, Combustion, Sustainability
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
