About this Research Topic
“Advancements and Challenges in Epidemiology of Lupus”, led by Professor Anca Askanase, Specialty Chief Editor of the Epidemiology of Lupus section, together with Dr Noa Schwartz, is focused on new insights, novel developments, current challenges, latest discoveries, recent advances and future perspectives in the field of lupus epidemiology.
The research topic solicits brief, forward-looking contributions that outline recent developments and major accomplishments that have been achieved and that need to occur to move the field forward. Authors are encouraged to identify the greatest challenges in the sub-disciplines and how to address those challenges. Submissions covering all areas of Epidemiology of Lupus are welcome and those covering the following themes are encouraged:
1. Telemedicine’s role in lupus care and research – will this increase access to care in lupus?
2. Precision medicine in lupus – are we any closer?
3. The spectrum of lupus – incomplete lupus as an evolving concept.
4. Classification vs Definition Criteria for lupus
5. Need to update the treatment guidelines for SLE and LN
The goal of this research topic is to shed light on the progress made over the past decade in the epidemiology of lupus, whilst providing a thorough overview of the field’s future challenges. This article collection will inspire, inform and provide direction to researchers in this area.
