About this Research Topic
We are now entering the third decade of the 21st Century, and, especially in the last years, the achievements made by scientists in the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine field have been exceptional, leading to major advancements. Frontiers have organized a series of Research Topics to highlight the latest advancements in science to be at the forefront of science in different fields of research. This specific editorial initiative, led by Prof. Ranieri Cancedda, Chief Editor of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine section, together with Prof. J. Mary Murphy and Prof. Martijn van Griensven, is focused on new insights, novel developments, current challenges, latest discoveries, recent advances, and future perspectives in the field.
The Research Topic solicits brief, forward-looking contributions from the editorial board members that describe the state of the art, outlining recent developments and major achieved accomplishments, future challenges, and how to address those challenges to move the field forward. Reviews, Mini-Reviews, Perspectives, Brief Research Reports, and Opinions summarizing the current state and future directions of the field are particularly welcome in this collection. This article collection will inspire, inform, and provide direction and guidance to researchers in the field.
This collection is part of the 'Insights In' series which has been launched in each section of the journal. Other titles in the series include:
- Insights in Bioprocess Engineering 2022: Novel Developments, Current Challenges, and Future Perspectives.
- Insights in Biomaterials 2022: Novel Developments, Current Challenges, and Future Perspectives.
- Insights in Nanobiotechnology 2022: Novel Developments, Current Challenges, and Future Perspectives.
- Insights in Biofabrication 2022: Novel Developments, Current Challenges, and Future Perspectives.
Please note that this article collection is open to receive exclusively invited manuscripts. For any external or spontaneous submissions, we would encourage you to submit to another relevant open collection within Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology or separate from any collection within the journal.
Keywords: Tissue Engineering, Tissue Healing, Tissue Repair, Regenerative Medicine, Stem Cell Therapy, Carrier Biomaterials, Growth Factors
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
