About this Research Topic
Neuropsychiatric disorders can exacerbate age-related cognitive decline and increase the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease and related dementia. Understanding the neurobiological mechanisms underlying this process will help identify novel therapeutic interventions to promote improved functional outcomes.
The goal of the proposed Research Topic is to highlight studies investigating the interaction between emotional affective disorders and Alzheimer's disease across the lifespan.
Researchers are invited to submit manuscripts addressing the underlying pathology associated with perturbations in fear memory, motivation, anxiety, and executive function in rodent models of Alzheimer's disease. Human studies are also of interest, especially, those dealing with higher-level aspects of brain functions in emotional states. In this Research Topic, we welcome Original Research articles, Reviews, and Mini Reviews.
