About this Research Topic
In this Research Topic, we would like to create a forum for discussing the role of novel cytokines (including pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines, such as secreted frizzled-related proteins, adiponectin, fibroblast growth factors) in the development and progression of cardiometabolic diseases, including but not limited to coronary artery disease, heart failure, diabetes, and stroke. We are also interested in the physiological mechanisms that link cytokines and CVDs, especially in the field of novel cell death models (e.g., pyroptosis, ferroptosis, PANoptosis, et al.). We also expect clinical or experimental studies evaluating the effects of potential novel therapeutics by modifying the secretion of cytokines and novel cell death models in cardiometabolic diseases.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- The relationship between cytokines and cardiovascular diseases, including cardiometabolic disease, heart failure, coronary heart disease and atrial fibrillation
- The effects of novel cell death pathways such as autophagy, pyroptosis, ferroptosis, and cuproptosis in cardiovascular disease
- The molecular mechanisms of novel cytokines (e.g., myokines, adipokines and inflammatory factors) in the cell death pathways of cardiovascular diseases
- Cytokines as biomarkers or therapeutic targets in cardiovascular diseases
Keywords: cardiovascular disease, cytokines, adipokines, pyroptosis, ferroptosis, PANoptosis, signal pathways
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
