About this Research Topic
Contributors to this collection were nominated by the Editorial Board of Frontiers in Chemistry, and by showcasing their work here, we aim to provide both a snapshot of the current field and also a glimpse of what the next decade might hold. In this Frontiers collection, we emphasize the analytical and computational strategies to address multimodal based on MSI applied to any kind of sample.
We welcome Original Research, Review, Mini Review and Perspective articles on themes including, but not limited to:
• Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MSI): MALDI, DESI, TOF-SIMS, NanoSIMS, LA-ICP, Ambient Ionization, etc.
• Multimodal Imaging based on MSI
• Analytical Strategy (Sample Preparation, Experimental Design, etc.)
• Computational Strategy (Image and Signal Processing, Registration, Statistics, Correlative Analysis, Pansharpening, etc.)
• Instrumentation development, improvement
• Other Imaging modalities: Vibrational Spectroscopies (Raman Scattering, FT-IR), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Immunofluorescence, Immunochemistry, Autofluorescence, Histological Staining, Imaging Mass Cytometry (IMC), Electronic Microscopy (SEM / TEM), Scanning Transmission X-ray Microscopy (STXM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), etc.
• Applications: Medical Research, Single Cell, Plant and Animal Biology, Microbiology, Environment, Semi-conductor, Surface Analysis, Cultural Heritage, Geochemistry, etc.
Keywords: Mass spectrometry Imaging, Multimodal Imaging, Other Imaging Modalities, Analytical Strategy, Computational Strategy
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
