About this Research Topic
This Research Topic will be a platform aiming to:
• Present a comprehensive outline of numerous methodologies used in biodiesel production process.
• Discuss the possibility of utilizing various feedstocks for biodiesel production considering their benefits as well as disadvantages with the goal to identify sustainable and cheap feedstock without the risk of hampering the food chain.
• Identify and characterize sustainable catalysts: homogeneous, biocatalysts, metal oxide catalysts, metal-organic framework catalysts, and nanocatalysts, which can be easily prepared and evince improved activity, reusability, reproducibility, and low activation energy.
• Address life cycle assessment of biodiesel to investigate its impact on environment and influence on CO2 emissions and global warming.
The collection seeks Original Research contributions, Reviews and Perspectives focusing on the production of biodiesel from various feedstocks with the aid of novel heterogeneous catalysts. We welcome submissions including, but not limited to the following topics:
• Biodiesel production from different feedstocks
• Catalysts for biodiesel production
• Recent advances in sustainable biodiesel production
• Trends in different bioproducts
Keywords: Biodiesel, Biodegradability, Transesterification, Heterogeneous, Homogeneous, Feedstock
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
