About this Research Topic
The current Research Topic aims is to cover recent advances in periovulatory events that would eventually contribute to a better understanding of infertility issues, finding novel targets for contraception as well as improving assisted reproductive technologies.
This Research Topic will discuss the current state of knowledge on the molecular mechanisms involved in oocyte maturation, COE, and/or follicle rupture in different species, emphasizing the involvement of new players. We welcome the submission of Original Research Articles, Reviews and Mini-reviews, including but not limited to the following topics:
• New molecules involved in periovulatory events
• Transactivation of tyrosine receptor kinase (TRKs) and G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) within the preovulatory follicle
• Signaling pathways in oocyte maturation in different species
• Signaling pathways in COE in different species
• Signaling pathways in follicle rupture in different species
Keywords: ovulatory cascade, oocyte maturation, cumulus-oocyte expansion, follicle rupture, cytokines, growth factors, steroids
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
