With the wide application of high-frequency ultrasound, the detection rate of thyroid tumors increases rapidly, and thyroid cancer has become one of the most common malignant tumors in the endocrine system. Thus, precise diagnosis and treatment play an extremely important role in it. On the one hand, accurate diagnosis is the basis of treatment. In recent years, the mechanism by which BRAFV600E regulates proliferation, invasion and metastasis is becoming clear, but the mechanisms of other thyroid cancer-related genes are still unclear. Besides, some other approaches have also become more and more significant to diagnose thyroid nodules, such as artificial intelligence methods and fine needle aspiration biopsy. On the other hand, precise treatment is the embodiment of diagnosis. Surgery is still the most frequently used method to treat thyroid nodules, but the thermal ablation could not be ignored either. Therefore, it is pretty necessary to have such a discussion of precise diagnosis and treatment in thyroid tumors.

This research topic aims to explore the molecular mechanism by which thyroid cancer-related genes promote proliferation, invasion, and metastasis of thyroid cancer. We will follow the new progress in the diagnosis of thyroid nodules, such as genetic detection, single-cell RNA sequencing and artificial intelligence methods. Also, the Research Topic will discuss the treatment of thyroid tumors, including targeted therapies for refractory or recurrent thyroid cancer, thermal ablation of benign thyroid nodules, and new technology and equipment for thyroid tumor surgery.
