About this Research Topic
Frontiers in Health Services has organized a series of special edition Research Topics, to highlight the latest advancements in the field across the globe, showcasing the academic excellence and high-quality work of internationally recognized researchers.
Many countries in Europe offer universal health coverage, which the WHO defines as everyone having access to effective, good-quality health services when they need them, no matter their financial status. Yet, many people still are out of the scope of health systems and have unmet health care needs. Innovative evidence-based interventions in health promotion, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care can address these health needs and improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities. Complex interventions have been increasingly designed to improve health and health care, but the contexts in which they are implemented are also complex. An innovation successfully implemented in one setting, does not necessarily operate the same way in another setting. Evidence on what, for whom, in what settings, and under what conditions an intervention works is key to building on findings across studies and contexts and informing researchers, practitioners, and policy makers’ practice.
This collection aims to shed light on the recent progress made across the entire breadth of the Implementation Science field and reflect on the future challenges faced by researchers across borders. All submitted manuscripts must have a clear implementation focus, example topics include, but are not limited to:
• Implementation and hybrid effectiveness-implementation studies within Europe;
• Studies in the field of European health and social care program implementation;
• Studies that report on implementation stakeholder engagement or involvement processes, methods, or frameworks within Europe;
• European based systematic reviews and meta-analyses focused on implementation effectiveness.
Please note, that contributions to the collection are by invitation only. Please inform the Editorial Office at
healthservices.submissions@frontiersin.org once you are prepared to submit.

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
