About this Research Topic
To meet human needs while also ensuring the safety and health of our planet, it is necessary to speed up the transition to sustainable development. The United Nations officially announced the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015 to eradicate poverty, safeguard the environment, and achieve universal prosperity by 2030. In modern life, our existence has become much more reliant on energy supplies than at any time in history. Conventional energy sources, however, have presented a hazard to the global environment, most notably through greenhouse gas emissions and climate change. In this vein, research on clean and green energy has become a prime agenda. In this regard, finding the drivers, challenges, and future aspects of green energy technologies is of utmost importance and prime agenda.
Literature on green energy technologies is still in its infancy and needs to be further developed. Previous studies have focused on environmental sustainability issues from the perspective of green energy technologies to some extent. Along these lines, it is critical to develop innovative, environmentally sustainable, and commercially feasible green solutions. This Research Topic aims to fill these literature gaps that are gradually appealing. This Research Topic will provide insights about:

(2) Specific challenges and barriers, hindering the penetration and acceptance of green energy technologies.
(3) Future aspects of green energy technologies to attain SDGs.
(4) How the society will react and behave in the face of ambiguous climate change circumstances?
This Research Topic collects original research and review articles on current breakthroughs in green energy technologies for sustainable development. Additionally, research into innovative techniques and methodologies in green energy technologies is encouraged.
