About this Research Topic
Recently, studies on the recognition, mechanism, and evolution of paleolandslides have deepened the knowledge of paleolandslide characteristics and its paleoenvironment. However, there are still many deficiencies in the quantitative identification, long-term evolution processes reconstruction, and risk assessment methods applicable to the field. This Research Topic aims to address the quantitative identification of paleolandslides, the formation mechanism of paleolandslides, the evolution processes of paleolandslides, and the risk assessment method of landslides, to better understand the distribution and long-term evolution processes of major landslides and improve the risk assessment reliability for landslides on a regional scale. We welcome articles on themes including, but not limited to:
• Paleolandslide recognition modeling via morphology and sedimentology.
• Paleolandslide catalogs on a regional scale and distribution characteristics.
• Paleolandslide causes and mechanism analysis.
• Paleolandslide evolution processes reconstruction or numerical modeling.
• Paleolandslides and disaster chain effects.
• Paleolandslides and their contribution to long-term erosion.
• Paleolandslide and its paleoenvironment or ancient civilization.
• Risk assessment method for landslides on a regional scale.
