Adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy are the widely used clinical treatments for patients suffering from bone and soft tissue tumors. However, tumors always become less sensitive to chemotherapeutics and radiotherapy after one or two courses of treatment. Resistance to the above therapies has been referred to as a major reason for cancer therapy failure and remains a big obstacle for doctors and oncologists, which leads to unfavorable outcomes including low quality of life and even poor survival. Revealing the new perspectives and progresses in radiotherapy and chemotherapy in bone and soft tissue tumors before or after surgical resection is of great importance, which will help us to understand and combat these tumors and alleviate suffering for more patients. Moreover, the new combination of therapies (such as the combination of chemotherapy or radiotherapy with immunotherapy) and new strategies such as targeted molecular radionuclide therapy on a large scale population and the efficacy are encouraged to be reported.
This Research Topic aims at reporting the new perspectives and progresses in adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy in resected bone and soft tissue tumors. We welcome submissions of Reviews and Original Research articles that cover, but are not limited to the following topics:
• New perspectives and progresses in radiotherapy and chemotherapy in resected bone and soft tissue tumors
• Chemoresistance in bone and soft tissue malignancies
• Radiotherapy resistance in bone and soft tissue malignancies
• Combination of therapies (such as the combination of chemotherapy or radiotherapy with immunotherapy) and new strategies such as targeted molecular radionuclide therapy on a large scale population and the efficacy
• Drug sensitizers of small molecule compounds that can reverse the resistance to radiotherapy and chemotherapy
Keywords:
