About this Research Topic
The ever-increasing burden of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) has a profound impact on human health, with CVDs reported as the number one cause of death worldwide. Several decades of research have firmly established a link between the endocrine system and the cardiovascular system, thus making it an important area of research in order to understand the hormonal regulation of cardiovascular function and the negative impact upon its dysfunction. These efforts have also helped in the identification of new targets for therapeutic purposes.
The proposed special issue aims at providing a single platform to the leading world researchers engaged in the field of understanding the role of the endocrine system in cardiovascular disorders to share their findings and opinions on the subject. miRNA, lipoproteins, and cytokines have recently triggered much attention as powerful diagnostic and treatment targets in CVDs. Thus, the Topic Editors welcome submission focusing on recent advances in diagnosis and treatments for endocrine-related CVDs.
As CVD has become a major cause of mortality in the human population, researchers world over are engaged in understanding its cause and developing treatment using modern tools. The issue will be open to research articles, meta-analyses, reviews, commentaries, and opinions. It will cover topics on both basic as well as applied research, with more focus on the therapeutic part.
