About this Research Topic
The intersections between psychological wellbeing and sexual health are manifold which are highly influenced by socio-cultural and ethnic variations. However, at the same time, this is often a tabooed, stigmatized and under-researched area. Biological, psychological, and social factors influence the psychosexual health of an individual.
A number of specialties currently deal with part of the problem including Andrology, Urology, Internal Medicine, Gynaecology and Psychiatry. This special issue is an attempt to create an integrated
platform to accumulate and share multi-disciplinary research encompassing these various dimensions of sexuality, sexual medicine and their intersections with mental health.
The goal of this Research Topic is to amalgamate all medical, surgical, psychological and other allied branches related to sexual medicine practice into a single unified entity that can function as a quintessential resource for the latest views and pioneer advances in the field. Sexual health is an integral component of psychological wellbeing and mental health professionals often face clinical, ethical and medico-legal challenges while dealing with psychosexual concerns in daily practice. Keeping this in background and the
heterogenous domains of sexual medicine, this issue plans to serve as a comprehensive resource of global multi-disciplinary research intersecting psychiatry, psychology, and sexuality.
A wide range of professionals may benefit from its repertoire for academic, clinical and public health related advances in the field of
psychosexual health.
This Research Topic will be focused on multi-disciplinary aspects of sexuality, sexual health, psychology of sexual behaviour, and psychiatric aspects of sexual medicine practice. Emphasis will be given on clinical practice considerations, guidelines and challenges.
