About this Research Topic
With this Research Topic, we wish to highlight the effects of diet, especially natural polysaccharides, on brain cognitive function, as well as to explore their potential mechanisms that how dietary polysaccharides can establish effective connections in the gut-brain axis, and ultimately improve brain health. This Research Topic is designed to promote an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the nutritional foundations of cognitive neuroscience.
We welcome all Original Research articles, Review, Perspectives, and Method focus on, but are not limited to, the following theme:
- Systematic exploration of the pathways, biomarkers and molecular mechanisms of how dietary polysaccharides affect brain cognitive function.
- The molecular mechanism of polysaccharide metabolites on brain cell metabolism, immune function, neuroplasticity and cognitive-related target proteins.
- Investigating how the active components and structure-activity relationships of dietary polysaccharides (within the range of dietary intake) affecting brain nutrition/cognitive function.
- The difference analysis and/or potential mechanism study of different natural polysaccharides that have been proved able to precisely regulate intestinal microbiota composition (including under different physiological conditions), thereby affecting brain function.
