About this Research Topic
The aim of this special issue is to provide the recent trends in diagnosis and treatment of cardiothoracic diseases in dogs and cats to improve the disease outcome. This Research Topic endeavors to validate non-invasive tools in cardiovascular examination for clinical setting.
More specifically, we welcome studies looking at:
- The recent echocardiographic technology including speckle-tracking echocardiography
- Color M-mode echocardiography (CMME) for the measurement of intra-ventricular pressure gradients (IVPG)
- Vector flow mapping (VFM) to measure the vorticity
These methods are non-invasive and could achieve early diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases (CVD).
Further studies that will also be encourages include:
- The association between cardiovascular events and changes in bio-fluid to improve biomarkers in CVD diagnosis
This includes:
- Micronutrients,
- Cardioprotective therapy,
- Metalloid, microbiota, proteomic, and metabolomic research
Keywords: Echocardiography, Biomarker, Proteome, Intervention radiology, cardiac catheter
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
