About this Research Topic
We are delighted to present the inaugural ‘Women in Science: Energy Research’ collection in Frontiers in Energy Research.
On average 30% of researchers worldwide are women. Long-standing biases and gender stereotypes are discouraging girls and women from entering science-related fields, STEM research in particular. However, as UNESCO have highlighted, both science and gender equality are essential to ensuring sustainable development. In order to change traditional mindsets, gender equality must be promoted, stereotypes defeated, and girls and women should be encouraged to pursue STEM careers.
Frontiers in Energy Research is proud to offer this platform to promote the work of female scientists across the breadth of energy research. We aim to provide inspiration for future researchers and for the increased representation of women in STEM. The work herein presents advances in energy research with a focus on solving problems of sustainability, efficiency, clean energy access and energy storage.
This article collection is open for submissions across all sections of the journal, and new articles will be added as they are published.
