About this Research Topic
There is a growing awareness on the potential of neurogenesis on retinal diseases, with few that are currently being tested in the clinical trials. The molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of neurodegeneration in eye diseases and how these will change following an intervention treatment are unknown.
This Research Topic aims at promoting neurogenesis for correcting visual dysfunctions. We seek to gather Original Research, Case Reports and Review articles boosting the development of therapeutic neurogenesis in retinal diseases. We are interested in articles from basic research to clinical applications in both animal and human models.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
1. Next generation sequencing to understand the pathology in ocular neurodegenerative disease and mechanism of action of a particular treatment;
2. Stem cell-based therapy;
3. Gene therapy for the treatment of retinal diseases;
4. Bioinformatics approach to facilitate effort to correct retinal diseases;
5. Dynamic interaction between nanomolecules and drug for the correction of retinal diseases;
6. Rationale design of new drugs for the treatment of ocular neurodegenerative diseases;
7. Development of animal models for pharmacological research on retinal diseases;
8. Alternative therapeutic approach on the treatment of ocular neurodegenerative diseases;
9. Clinical aspects on ocular neurodegenerative diseases.
