About this Research Topic
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the lung associated with airways structural remodeling and irreversible airflow obstruction. Moreover, the disease is one major cause of mortality, morbidity, and hospitalization throughout the world. It’s worthy to note that no effective treatment that can fundamentally modify the disease and decrease the mortality of COPD, and health care of the disease often causes high medical costs.
In this Research Topic, we would like to describe new insights into the management of COPD, from translational research to public health practice and clinical management. We hope to compile the latest research on, and clinical applications of in the diagnosis and treatment of COPD.
This Research Topic aims to create a multidisciplinary forum of discussion about new insights in the management (i.e. diagnosis and treatment) of COPD. In detail, for this Research Topic we welcome submissions of Original Research, Brief Research Reports, Case Reports, and Reviews of exceptional merit addressing one or more of the following topics:
• Clinical diagnosis and rehabilitation of COPD
• Pathophysiology of COPD
• Cell-based therapy for COPD
• Mechanisms underlying COPD and potential clinical application
• Risk identification of COPD
Keywords: Air Pollution, Emphysema, Rehabilitation, Respiratory Therapy, Cell-Based Therapy, Clinical Management, Imaging
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
