About this Research Topic
Carbon mitigation targets play a crucial role in achieving carbon dioxide emission reduction, which resulted in numerous governments publicly declaring reduction targets, including Canada, China, Japan, South Korea and many more. However, along with the integration of the international markets and the globalization of economic activities, the links between different countries are becoming ever stronger and ever deeper. Moreover, the carbon reduction framework cannot work only as a duty of some countries but as a humanistic duty of all nations in the world. Therefore, to achieve the goal of carbon dioxide emission reduction, some regional cooperation organizations, such as OECD, BRICS, RCEP, should urgently coordinate the tasks of global emission reduction to relieve the global greenhouse effect. Thus, it is of great significance to explore how to achieve cross-regional carbon mitigation targets.
In this Research Topic, we call for papers to discuss the profound implications of any cross-regional carbon reduction problems from a theoretical or practical perspective and answer how to achieve the goals. It is also of great importance to provide reasonable and effective empirical analysis to investigate how to effectively curb CO2 emissions and move toward sustainable development. In addition, we also wish to explore the influences of economic, environmental, technological, and political related factors in achieving carbon mitigation targets. This Research Topic is intended as a state-of-the-art resource for researchers, practitioners, and decision-makers interested in studying cross-regional carbon dioxide emission reduction all over the world.
