About this Research Topic
Today, the mechanisms of the dysregulation of such flexibility and the identification of involved lifestyle and metabolic factors, which ultimately will lead to metabolic inflexibility, are still investigated as they could provide relevant triggers for understanding of the development of metabolic diseases and targeted nutritional prevention and care strategies.
Moreover, the definition and the characterization (from cellular to body level) of metabolic flexibility, as well as standardized assessment methodologies are still discussed, in order to better capture its dynamic and integrative features.
This Research Topic aims to further enhance our understanding of the concept of metabolic flexibility, to refine its assessment methodologies and of its importance in the development and management of metabolic diseases and associated conditions.
We welcome Original Research articles including randomized and non-randomized clinical trials, as well as cross-sectional studies, Narrative and Systematic Reviews, Perspectives, and Opinions.
This Research Topic welcomes papers dealing with the concept of metabolic flexibility on themes such as, but not limited to:
