About this Research Topic
Despite the beneficial role of classical anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial drugs, patients may become intolerant, refractory or microbes may develop resistance to these therapeutic approaches. In addition, the modulation of gut microbiota by probiotics have shown promising results in the aforementioned conditions. Hence, this Research topic aims to publish original research and reviews on the role of Probiotics to prevent, treat or act as an adjuvant therapy to constrain inflammatory and infectious disorders.
The Topic Editors welcome original research and reviews on topics related but not limited to the following areas:
• Probiotics as therapeutic approaches to treat inflammatory or infectious diseases;
• Mechanisms of action of probiotics in the modulation on gut microbiota;
• Probiotic vectorization approaches towards intestinal targets
Keywords: Probiotics, Inflammation, Infection, Microbial Therapy, Probiotic vectorization
