About this Research Topic
Due to the wide inter-subject variability in cardiovascular anatomy and pathophysiology, it is necessary to design personalized treatment plans that would highly benefit from clinical imaging technologies. The remarkable advances in medical imaging, have motivated the development of new tools that can augment the power of medical imaging to provide information beyond anatomy-based diagnosis. In addition to providing comprehensive diagnostic information, some of these tools can even predict effectiveness of interventions by allowing systematic testing of possible clinical interventions, and thereby they enable personalized interventions.
This Research Topic covers the novel tools that augment the power of medical imaging to provide quantitative information about cardiovascular disease beyond conventional diagnosis. The following themes are included in the scope:
• Advanced image processing for diagnosis, monitoring and prediction of cardiovascular disease
• Advanced signal processing for diagnosis, monitoring and prediction of cardiovascular disease
• Imaged-based experimental biomechanics for prediction of effects of treatments of cardiovascular dis-eases
• Advances in image-guided interventions
• Integration of medical imaging and computational modelling for intervention predictions
• Personalization of treatment through image-based hypothesis testing
Important Note: All submissions/contributions to this Research Topic must be in line with the scope of the journal/section they are submitted to. While authors are encouraged to draw from other disciplines to enrich their papers where relevant, they must ensure papers fall within the scope of the journal/section, as expressed in its mission statement.
