About this Research Topic
In this Research Topic, we will explore how the various signals generated from different cellular components integrate to regulate the heat response pathways. Such integration of the various organellar signals might be essential for successful cell-to-cell communications to establish the appropriate thermal response systems at the tissue, organ and whole plant level. In addition, it is also important to understand a flexible mode of coordination between the various organelle signals that function at different growth stages. By focusing on these aspects, this Research Topic will attempt to identify key signals regulating heat response mechanisms. Furthermore, such knowledge can be applied to enhancing tolerance of crops to heat stress.
We welcome all original research and reviews (including mini reviews) falling under, but not limited to the following topics. In the reviews, new hypotheses that are open for future studies should be proposed based on the recent findings.
• Signals regulating different metabolic pathways and molecular networks that function in organelles, and integration of these signals under heat stress.
• Alterations in function and morphology of different organelles cause by heat stress, and their underlying mechanisms.
• Cell-to-cell communications underlying multicellular response to heat stress. Studies focusing on specificity of mechanisms that function in different tissues and organs are also welcome.
• Submissions focusing on the response of plants to a combination of heat stress and other stresses.
