About this Research Topic
Chronic or acute itch is defined as an unpleasant sensation leading to the need to scratch. Itch (pruritus) is frequent in allergic diseases and in atopic diseases. It is not restricted to skin and may occur in genital, naso-pharyngeal or oral areas. Moreover, acute itch (e.g. of the palms/soles and genital area) is often a first symptom of severe anaphylaxis. Itch may also occur in non allergic diseases.
The aim of this Research Topic is to gather manuscripts on the clinical, psychological and therapeutic aspects of itch, with direct relationship with allergy as well as papers on immunological, biological or neuro-physiological research.
