About this Research Topic
Lessons from embryology offer important insights into the development of stem cell derived cardiovascular cells (cardiomyocytes, endothelial cells, etc). However, hurdles regarding heterogenicity, immaturity, tumorigenesis, grafting cell death, immune rejection and arrhythmogenesis need to be overcome in preclinical and clinical practice. This Research Topic aims to highlight the novel studies and strategies that might overcome current obstacles in cardiovascular translational medicine and their potential applications.
Areas to be covered in this Research Topic may include, but are not limited to:
• Stem cells and differentiation of cardiovascular cells
• Stem cells and cardiovascular repair
• Stem cells and cardiovascular disease modelling
• Stem cells and cardiovascular drug development and safety assay
• Stem cells and cardiac organoid and tissue engineering
• Stem cell derived bioactive materials (such as exosome) and heart
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
