About this Research Topic
Recent advancements in application development, wearable devices, and artificial intelligence (AI) have opened up exciting new horizons for digital health, especially for patients living in remote areas, living in confined spaces due to health limitations, and living in low- and middle-income countries.
In the past few years, the integration of biosensors into wearable devices such as smartwatches and smartphones has increased dramatically. Despite the great strides made towards integrating digital health solutions into clinics, hospitals, and community settings, there are still many ongoing challenges.
In this Research Topic, we are calling for contributions to mobile and wearable systems that aim to apply AI for digital health solutions. We are looking for research that shows the relevance of systems that combine wearable devices and AI to use in clinical practice, to advance the clinical diagnosis, improve decision-making, and treatment. We also welcome manuscripts relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, which will be waived by Frontiers until July 31st, 2020.
Topics covered in this collection, include but are not limited to:
• Biomedical signal processing and artificial intelligence in a wearable context;
• Clinical applications of deep learning technologies for improved diagnosis and monitoring of disease detection;
• Virtual health technologies that incorporate video, mobile apps, text-based messaging, sensors, and social platforms;
• Smartphone apps used in clinics, hospitals, and global health.
Keywords: Virtual health, digital medicine, machine learning, deep learning, wearable devices, digital healthcare
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
