About this Research Topic
Without doubt digitalization and machine learning will have a very profound impact on the daily workflow of modern hospitals in the future. In particular, the diagnostic process and the management of infectious diseases will be significantly improved due to data-driven approaches allowing the usage of digital biomarkers, data supporting systems handling the large amount of healthcare related data generated from individual patients, and providing personalized advice based on big data and sophisticated algorithms.
This Research Topic aims to boost the knowledge of digitalization, machine learning and personalized health in infectious diseases by collecting papers from the key opinion leaders. Most recent breakthroughs and translation into applications to clinics will be described. Moreover, this Research Topic aims to connect traditionally separate disciplines: information technology, machine learning and big data, clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. We call for Reviews, Mini Reviews, Original Research papers and Brief Research Reports to cover the subtopics of clinical applications of technology with use cases, clinical focus of machine learning, data and infrastructure requirements, among others.
