About this Research Topic
Child-to-parent violence (CPV) has become a significant concern among professionals and researchers from different countries in recent years. However, despite the increasing interest in this phenomenon, it is still one of the most understudied types of family violence. This Research Topic aims to advance our understanding of CPV, reporting studies coming from different samples (clinical, forensic and community) and from different cultures, which provide a comprehensive approach of this type of violence.
Subjects of interest include:
- The development of new or reformulated theoretical models to explain the origin, development and maintenance of CPV.
- Cultural differences in social and legal policies to address CPV.
- Further exploration of the variables related to both the development and maintenance of CPV, with preference given to studies with an integrative perspective.
- Investigation of factors related to the desistance of CPV.
- The development and validation of assessment instruments.
- The investigation of CPV (prevalence, psychosocial variables, etc.) from the parents’ perspectives.
- Exploration of the links between CPV and other forms of family violence or offending behaviour.
- The development or validation of evidence-based treatment programs to prevent and reduce CPV in different contexts: Clinical, community, educative, etc.
We welcome original research articles, theoretical articles, reviews, meta-analyses, and brief reports.
