About this Research Topic
Psychology of entrepreneurship is an emerging area within the psychology field, that aims to comprehend how entrepreneurs approach the dynamic environment of business. The five psychological aspects of this field, namely career perspective, personal differences, health and well-being, cognition and behavior, and entrepreneurship leadership, are interlinked with an organizational internal mechanism which ultimately boosts the performance.
Specifically, the cognition and behavior aspect of entrepreneurship psychology illustrates the cognition of entrepreneurs while taking a decision, while the entrepreneurship leadership aspect contemplates the relation between entrepreneurs and employees.
In their 2018 studies, Arena and colleagues found that even CEO hubris also indicates that they are orientated towards environmental orientation. This example shows that these psychological aspects are also related to firms’ sustainability and CSR. Therefore, by analyzing the psychological behavior of individual entrepreneurs, we will be able to find psychological factors which orientate the entrepreneur to attain sustainability and take drastic steps for CSR.
Prior research has studied entrepreneur traits on sustainability and CSR, but they have neglected specific types of psychological factors, for example, whether to mitigate the uncertainty by bringing new changes among entrepreneurs. Specifically, there is a need for a novel approach to contemplate the intensity of responsibility among employees and entrepreneurs, which can be interlinked with sustainability and CSR.
Additionally, entrepreneurial leadership promotes a strong interaction between entrepreneurs and employees and therefore facilitates the entrepreneur's growth. To achieve this goal, entrepreneurs should take drastic steps to attain sustainability.
