Dr. Catheryn Yashar - UCSD SAVI Sisters

Dr. Catheryn Yashar discusses the formation of the SAVI Sisters support group at UC San Diego. Based on a survey of breast cancer patients, UCSD started a local chapter of SAVI Sisters. The group provides peer-to-peer support with expert facilitation from social workers and clinical information from doctors and nurses. SAVISisters.com provides background on APBI, information about 5-day radiation therapy with SAVI, and Sister Stories. These stories feature women who are sharing their own personal SAVI experiences- helping others learn what to expect and giving them the option to contact individual SAVI Sisters. Dr. Yashar is Chief of Breast and Gynecologic Radiation Services at the University of California at San Diego's Moores Cancer Center.
