About this Research Topic
Ion channels and transporters in intracellular compartments are increasingly recognized as important players in cellular physiology and in disease. However, investigation of intracellular proteins, particularly ion channels and transporters, is exceedingly difficult causing the field to lag behind other more established areas of cellular physiology. However, this research area has seen a rapid expansion in recent years.
The goal of this Research Topic is to establish the state-of-the-art in the field of intracellular ion channels and transporters and portray the most recent advances in the field.
This Research Topic welcomes articles in the form of original research, brief reports, reviews, mini-reviews, perspectives and clinical studies that present research on ion channels and transporters expressed in intracellular compartments, with respect to their structure, biophysical properties, regulation, physiological role, pharmacology, drugability, and their role in disease.
