Background

As a leading Open Access publisher, Frontiers is committed to empowering not only scientists, but other researchers, innovators, and members of the public. As such, highlighting sustainable development and the real-world applications of Pharmacology of Infectious Diseases is a key part to the agenda of Frontiers in Pharmacology. This Research Topic aims to highlight advancements in the techniques, policies, materials, and methods used by industry, other non-academic bodies, and academia to develop products and services for commercial use and beyond.

This collection encourages contributions from scientists who are engaged in industry and commercial projects to provide their insights and forecasts on the ways in which Pharmacology of Infectious Diseases is utilized and explored in the industry sector. Contributions that assess the pharmacology of infectious diseases for commercialization from within academia are also welcome. Authors are also encouraged to identify the challenges that need to be overcome before pharmaceuticals and related products become economically viable. We also welcome submissions looking at challenges hindering the commercialization of drugs and solutions to speed up the process of moving drugs through the pipeline.

• Who leads a Research Topic? 

  A team of guest editors (called topic editors) lead their Research Topic. This editorial team oversees the entire process, from the initial topic proposal to calls for participation, the peer review, and final publications.

  The team may also include topic coordinators, who help the topic editors send calls for participation, liaise with topic editors on abstracts, and support contributing authors. In some cases, they can also be assigned as reviewers.

  As a topic editor (TE), you will take the lead on all editorial decisions for the Research Topic, starting with defining its scope.
