Tumors utilize abnormal metabolic activity to support cancer growth in different organ environments. Tumor metabolism is becoming a hot topic within cancer research, with the possibility to impact our approaches to tumor detection and treatment in the future, to improve patient outcomes.
However, a lot of barriers remain to achieving these goals, including the absence of a well-defined molecular mechanism, effective gene targets and limitations on our understanding of these targets roles in specific organ environments. In this research topic, we wish to provide a platform for the discussion and dissemination of recent advances in our understanding of tumor metabolism, to provide novel insights within this research field.
We welcome impactful research articles, reviews, methods articles and other article types which include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Genetic mutations and the resultant metabolic phenotypes of cancer in specific organ environments
• Novel regulatory mechanisms of different metabolic pathways in tumors
• Potential methods to resolve challenges related to tumor metabolism
• Novel molecular mechanism of tumor metabolism
• Potential translational applications and therapeutic strategies related to tumor metabolism
• Investigations of the relationship between signal transduction pathways and metabolic pathways in tumuors
• The impact of tumor metabolism on tumor immunity and immunotherapy
