About this Research Topic
The main objective of this Research Topic will be to reunite studies that focus on investigating biomechanics, exercise, and other interventions in older adults; both healthy and those with some pathology (cancer, heart disorders, immunological diseases, neurological issues, etc). In addition, this Research Topic aims to present studies that verify clinical evidence of the effectiveness of different interventions in aging.
Specific themes for this Research Topic include:
• Biomechanics of aging
• Movement analysis in older adults
• Gait and balance in older adults
• Muscle-tendon morphology and mechanics during aging
• Joint and bone morphology and mechanics during aging
• Biomechanics of muscle-tendon injuries and diseases in older adults
• Biomechanics of joint and bone injuries and diseases in older adults
• Biomechanics of exercise and nutritional interventions in older adults
• Biomechanical interventions in aging
• Other interventions using technologies in older adults such as wearable assistive devices and new techniques in older adults
This Research Topic encourages the submission of Original Research and Systematic Review (with or without Meta-analysis) articles.
Keywords: Biomechanics, Aging, Gait, Balance, Older Adults, Aging Interventions
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
