Real-world data and our ability to effectively visualize it, has had a significant impact on forming our societies. It is not an exaggeration to argue that nowadays this data is ubiquitous and has begun to reform the face of human life. Thus, it is of great value to understand how our new societies work by seizing the opportunity provided by this data. As each piece of data is a part of a larger puzzle, applying complexity theory is crucial, in conceiving the bigger picture which results from the collective interactions of those numerous pieces of data. The paradigm of complexity stands as a novel approach for challenging the reductionism and non-linearity of different systems. Furthermore, it presents methods and techniques for analyzing the collective behavior of socio-economic systems.
This research topic aims to collect scientific contributions from scholars working in the socio-economic system's domain and who apply the concepts of complexity and its techniques to further elaborate on the behavior of these systems.
