About this Research Topic
The goal of this Research Topic is to give an overview on state-of-the art collection of polymeric nanobiomaterial science and technology ((bio-)synthesis, characterization and processing), life science, pharmaceutical science, as well as nanosafety related data (ecotox and human tox) and life cycle thinking considering environmental issues.
We are looking for articles with the following aspects:
- Novel concepts in safety by design of polymeric and biodegradable nanoparticles for usage in health applications (e.g., overview on legislations, simulation of polymer behavior, toxicity studies, etc.)
- Review articles on state-of-the art of polymeric and biodegradable nanobiomaterials (synthesis, (bio-) chemical modification of biopolymers, processing, etc.)
- Production and tailoring of biodegradable biopolymers that are suitable for nanomedical applications (e.g. cancer treatment, vaccination, slow and fast drug release systems, shelf-life studies, etc.)
- Production of polymeric nano-devices (at least one dimension is 100 nm), their characterizations (methods in drug release, degradation rates and products) and applications in health
Keywords: Nanomaterials, biopolymers, drug delivery, safety by design
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
