About this Research Topic
Their synthesis procedures are now turning from art to science with a better understanding of nucleation and crystallization processes involved. Synthetic zeolites are widely used as catalysts/carriers for many chemical reactions as well as in refining processes.
Those amazing materials remain the world largest catalysts produced for industrial applications. In this Research Topic, we aim to collect many contributions covering all aspects of zeolite chemistry, ranging from their synthesis, shaping for real world applications, as well as their practical use in different fields: adsorption, ion-exchange and catalysis.
Areas to be covered in this Research Topic may include, but are not limited to:
• New strategies to synthesize zeolites or related porous materials (mesoporous silicas, mesoporous aluminas, MOFs, COFs, POMs, etc)
• Modification of zeolite porosity : including hard- and soft-templating methods, desilication, dealumination
• Doping with metals for catalytic, adsorption or remediation purposes
• Catalysis: for both petrochemistry and fine chemical synthesis
• Applications of zeolites for a sustainable energy future : support, membrane, composite, sorbent, etc
