The first edition of the Summer School on Medicines (SSM) was held in 2009, with the proposal of covering all these steps with speakers from academia and industry. Since then, the 9 following editions of the SSM initiative have trained almost 300 people from more than 15 countries.
In this Research Topic, we welcome Original Research, Reviews, or Perspective articles from scientists from different disciplines and therapeutic areas, from any of the steps of the drug discovery and development process. Works can be experimental or computational, or on aspects related to the processes, including business development, market access, knowledge transfer, etc.
Therefore, the main goals of this Research Topic are to gather new discovery strategies and technological approaches that contribute to the optimization of the drug discovery and development processes; to deliver original interdisciplinary research papers or reviews; to present state-of-the-art drug discovery journey from idea to market.
Keywords: Drug-discovery, hit discovery/optimization, preclinical/clinical trials, pharmacokinetics, regulatory
