About this Research Topic
Dr Ranieri Cancedda, the Field Chief Editor of Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology and Specialty Chief Editor of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine section has organized this editorial initiative of particular relevance, to shed light on the future and sustainability of TERM.
This article collection aims to cover different aspects related to the specific topic, including lessons learned from the past and expectations for the next decade, translatability of the research to the clinic and new perspectives and insights on critical topics such as: (i) smart biomaterials; (ii) stem cell secretome, (iii) biofabrication, (iv) vascularization and innervation of engineered constructs; (v) new imaging technologies. Alongside, contributions to this Research Topic will provide also a vision of state of art and future of the field in different continents, giving a geographical perspective to the subjects covered.
Please note that the article collection is open to receive exclusively invited manuscripts. However, the submission of commentaries providing critical comments on the invited manuscripts included in the collection is highly encouraged. These commentaries will be reviewed and published following the invited manuscripts.
