About this Research Topic
Huge efforts have been done by the scientific community in proposing comprehensive methods and procedures for assessing the seismic response of these buildings and for designing possible interventions. The matter is wider than one may suppose, since typically the knowledge of historical buildings involves interdisciplinarity expertise regarding, among others, architecture, engineering and geology.
This Research Topic is addressed to highlight the recent improvements and original researches exploring seismic analysis and retrofitting of historical buildings. Some, among the issues of relevant importance, are:
• experimental investigations
• survey techniques and graphic restitution
• structural diagnosis
• structural health monitoring
• risk assessment
• seismic evaluation analysis
• simulations by advanced numerical models
• repairing and retrofitting interventions
• innovative devices and techniques
• case studies
Keywords: Cultural Heritage, FEM Modelling, Retrofitting Interventions, Seismic Analysis, Structural Diagnosis
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
