Despite the remarkable improvement in the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases and complications, the demand for novel and definitive solutions to repair and regenerate cardiac, vascular and valve tissues is in continuous growth. Besides representing new research opportunities for interdisciplinary Teams of Scientists with background on biophysics, engineering, cell biology and materials science, this field offers novel avenues for biotechnological investments and commercial exploitation.
The present Research Topic focuses on the most advanced developments in tissue engineering approaches in cardiovascular medicine. This includes application of new scaffold materials for tissue replacement (e.g. vascular grafts, cardiac/vascular valves, cardiac patches), drug delivery, imaging and cell phenotypic control.
Important Note:
All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
