About this Research Topic
This Research Topic aims to highlight and cover recent progress on the role of Sirtuins in neurodegeneration and brain function. Sirtuins are NAD-dependent protein deacetylases that have been shown to have beneficiary effects against age-related diseases. The recent understanding of the role of different Sirtuin homologs in aging brain and neurodegeneration paved the way for investigating and identifying new therapeutic approaches for neurodegenerative diseases. This Research Topic will include both molecular mechanism of brain aging and the effect of age-related pathways on neurodegeneration. A particular focus of this Research Topic will be on Sirtuins and their role in brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases.
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
