About this Research Topic
InnovSur is the first international forum dedicated to innovation in health surveillance. It aims to review and discuss the gaps and needs in next generation of health surveillance: innovations in animal, human and plant health surveillance as well as at the interface between these three components.
The objectives of this forum are: (i) to highlight the innovations in terms of health surveillance design and evaluation, (ii) to review the needs for translational research to promote innovation uptake, (iii) to brainstorm on the challenges behind integrated health surveillance, and (iv) to promote innovative approaches to strengthen private-public partnership related to surveillance activities.
These proceedings are designed to offer the possibility to all forum speakers to contribute to this growing field by publishing cutting-edge and promising studies focused on innovative surveillance. We are welcoming articles in the following broad themes:
- Innovation in the surveillance of health at the interface between animal, human and plant health;
- Innovation in the surveillance of vectors and vector-borne diseases;
- Knowledge transfer between research and surveillance policy;
- The integration of “big data” in surveillance designs;
- The role of public-private partnership in health surveillance.
Note that we strongly encourage the submission of manuscripts from a wide range of fields (including veterinary and medical epidemiology, mathematical biology, ecology and related areas) and we hope that this will help identify innovative techniques that are used in one field that have potential to be exploited to address pressing disease surveillance challenges in another field. Articles submitted may focus on methods and techniques, applications, development of theory, education and/or policy.
