About this Research Topic
The term digital health encompasses a range of solutions, based on information and communication technology, used to deliver healthcare services to patients and their caregivers in a more efficient, tailored and cost-effective way. Digital health is a promising tool for empowering patients, influencing their attitudes and behaviors, and improving their medical conditions. Telehealth and m-health are currently the most popular available digital health solutions, allowing remote management of patients also in time of COVID-19 pandemic.
Published studies show a high acceptance of digital health solutions and services, both by patients and physicians. Randomized controlled and observational studies have documented improvement of the cardiovascular risk of patients receiving digital health interventions as compared to those receiving standard care.
The main focus of this Research Topic is to present the available evidence on the clinical usefulness and application and the current limitations and perspectives of digital health in cardiovascular disease management. The different technologies and clinical aspects of the available solutions will be presented and discussed. The role of digital health in the context of integrated management programs of patients with hypertension, ischemic heart disease, heart failure, arrhythmias and other cardiovascular diseases will be addressed, with indications for further progress in this field.

All interested researchers in the field are welcomed to contribute to this Research Topic with original research as well as review articles that will hopefully stimulate doctors to consider the use of digital health solutions for the management of their cardiovascular patients in the clinical practice.
