About this Research Topic
Ex-vivo/in vitro cultured neuronal networks represent a simplified model of the CNS and methods like electrophysiological recordings from in vitro neuronal network coupled to multi electrode array (MEA) chips provide a simpler and less time-consuming alternative for screening purpose.
This Research Topic will include articles on the use of micro electrode array technology for in vitro toxicity testing, with emphasis on results from the exposure of neuronal networks to neuroactive compounds, inter-labs/inter-techniques assessment and application of the MEA paradigm for developmental neurotoxicity (DNT). In addition, a review about the current state of the art of MEA methods for neurotoxicity application could be included.
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
