Bioengineering materials are central to the advancement of tissue repair and regeneration, particularly in the context of bone and soft tissue defects. These materials must not only exhibit excellent compatibility, degradability, and mechanical properties but also finely tune the cellular microenvironment to facilitate optimal repair. The orchestration of cellular interactions and the regulation of cellular behaviors are essential for stimulating tissue regeneration and promoting healing processes. As the field progresses, understanding the underlying mechanisms that govern the effectiveness of these bioengineering constructs becomes imperative.

This Research Topic aims to delve into the cellular mechanisms that drive bone and skin tissue repair, offering innovative pathways for the development of biomimetic materials. The goal is to enhance clinical treatments through a better understanding of cellular dynamics and material interactions. The focus will be on two primary areas: uncovering new cellular mechanisms associated with bone repair and developing materials targeted to these mechanisms, and exploring soft tissue repair, particularly in skin wound healing, to develop effective therapies grounded in cellular behavior and bioengineering applications.

To gather further insights into the transformation of bioengineering materials at the cellular level for bone and skin tissues, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:
o Investigation of cellular mechanisms in the repair processes of bone and skin under normal and pathological conditions, including diabetes and autoimmune diseases.
o Studies on local regeneration processes in bone and skin, focusing on conditions like non-union, osteomyelitis, and complex skin wounds such as burns and infections.
o Research on the design, development, and application of novel bioengineering materials like hydrogels, nanoparticles, and microneedles for bone and skin tissue repair.
o Analyses of translational potential of cellular mechanisms to practical applications in bioengineering materials.
o Reviews of current biomimetic approaches and their clinical impacts on bone and skin tissue healing.
