About this Research Topic
Transcatheter valve interventions (TVIs) represent a profound transformative advancement in cardiovascular medicine, offering minimally invasive alternatives to traditional open-heart surgery.
Moreover, over the past 20 years, the field of TVI in heart failure patients significantly evolved, as a consequence of the expansion of available therapies to treat aortic stenosis, mitral and tricuspid regurgitation.
Goal:
Many questions remain partially unanswered, including: the ideal target population; the acute and long-term hemodynamic changes associated with these procedures; the combination of multiple TVI; the interaction with the optimal HF medical therapy; the use of TVI as a bridge to heart replacement therapies in advanced HF patients.
Information for authors:
Led by an interdisciplinary team of experts, this Research Topic is open for submission for original articles, reviews and viewpoints focused on TVI, with a specific focus on heart failure patients. Areas of interest include but are not limited to the following: 1) hemodynamic adaptations after TVI on the mitral or tricuspid valve; 2) TVI in heart failure patients; 3) transcatheter aortic valve interventions in patients on cardiogenic shock due to severe aortic stenosis; 4) perioperative optimization of the high-risk patients candidate to TVI.
Keywords: Transcatheter valve interventions; structural heart diseases; mitral reguragitation; aortic stenosis; tricuspid regurgitation; heart failure
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements.
